Raiders’ Hawks fires perfect game against Clinton County

Warren East senior Ryan Hawks pitched a perfect game against Clinton County during the Raiders’ 10-0 home win Saturday.

Hawks, a Louisville signee, struck out 14 batters in the six-inning win. Hawks, a right-hander, needed just 69 pitches to record the perfect game.

Offensively, the Raiders’ Sheldon Martin was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and stole three bases. Also for Warren East (13-18), Jonah Vance was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI and Austin Comer went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Hawks added a hit and scored four runs.

Bowling Green 8, Apollo 2

Host Bowling Green got solid pitching from Geoffrey Ross and Brady Key in Saturday’s 8-2 win over Apollo.

Ross worked the first five innings for the win, allowing one earned run off three hits and a walk while striking out two. Key finished up, allowing an earned run on two hits in two innings. He struck out one.

Carson Kelley was 3-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the Purples. Evan Spader added a 2-for-3 day.

Bowling Green 3, McCracken County 2

Carson Kelley’s walk-off sacrifice fly RBI capped a three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning as host Bowling Green nipped McCracken County on Saturday.

Purples senior Jackson Haga, a Liberty signee, tossed six innings for the complete-game win. Haga allowed two runs (one earned) off four hits and two walks while fanning nine.

Joe Howard was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead Bowling Green (24-10).

Greenwood 4, Metcalfe County 3

Greenwood held off visiting Metcalfe County 4-3 on Saturday in the opening game of a doubleheader.

The Gators’ Lance Upright struck out eight in four innings, allowing three runs (one earned) off one hit and three walks. Drew Loiars earned the win in relief after tossing three scoreless innings.

Greenwood tallied just three hits. Braxton Garner drove in two runs to lead the Gators.

Metcalfe County 12, Greenwood 7

Metcalfe County erupted for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to beat Greenwood 12-7 and earn a doubleheader split Saturday.

Dell Henk was 4-for-4 with two RBIs, Cade Thornton was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI and Reed Slone went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Greenwood (17-10).

ACS 8, South Warren 5

Host Allen County-Scottsville tallied 10 hits in an 8-5 win over South Warren on Saturday.

Cayden Ross was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Mathew Brown was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Tyler Ford was 2-for-3 for ACS (9-15).

Trent Rice went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Adam Burns drove in two runs for South Warren (23-9).

Softball

South Warren 12, Ballard 1

South Warren rolled past Ballard 12-1 in five innings in the Best of the West Tournament Saturday at Buchanon Park.

Alexis Isable hit two home runs as part of a 3-for-3 day. Madison Stumbo went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, Caroline Pitcock was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Carrie Enlow and Elizabeth Spencer added two hits each for the Spartans.

Emily Reynolds pitched five innings for the win, allowing one run off four hits.

She struck out four.

South Warren 11, Oldham County 1

South Warren cruised to an 11-1 win over Oldham County in five innings Saturday in the Best of the West Tournament.

Alexis Isable had two hits including a homer, Jessica Bush had two doubles and two RBIs, Madison Stumbo went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Taylor Enlow had two doubles and three RBIs and Caroline Pitcock and Elizabeth Spencer chipped in two hits each for the Spartans.

Taylor Enlow got the win, allowing one run off four hits in five innings. She struck out four.

South Warren 15, Scott County 3

South Warren capped a perfect day in the Best of the West Tournament with a 15-3 win in six innings over Scott County on Saturday.

Jessica Bush was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, Emily Reynolds was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Carrie Enlow was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Paityn Pruitt was 3-for-4 as South Warren (20-11) tallied 19 hits.

Madison Stumbo, Taylor Enlow and Caroline Pitcock added two hits each.

Selynna Metcalfe got the win in relief after allowing one run off four hits in five innings. She fanned four.

Assumption 2, Greenwood 1

Assumption held Greenwood to just two hits for a 2-1 win in the Best of the West Tournament Saturday.

Lily Travis singled in a run for the Lady Gators’ lone hit.

Ballard 3, Greenwood 2

Ballard pushed across a fifth-inning run to top Greenwood 3-2 in the Best of the West Tournament on Saturday.

Alex Grubbs was 3-for-3 to lead the Lady Gators.

Greenwood 11, Oldham County 5

Greenwood capped its day in the Best of the West Tournament with an 11-5 win over Oldham County on Saturday.

Allyson Smith was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Greenwood (17-10).

Caitlyn Oliver was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Reagan Fletcher, Alex Grubbs and Lily Travis added two hits each.
