Penick pitches Logan County past Purples

Logan County senior Dylan Penick tossed a complete-game shutout as the host Cougars earned a 3-0 baseball win over Bowling Green on Tuesday.
Penick allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out nine batters to earn the win.
Chandler Silvey was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Logan County (13-2), which tallied only four hits. Zach Yates and Koby Wall added RBIs for the Cougars.
Logan County returns to action Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. game. Bowling Green (7-6) hosts Ohio County at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Owensboro 5, Franklin-Simpson 4
Visiting Franklin-Simpson dropped a 5-4 baseball decision to Owensboro on Tuesday.
Jacob Curtis led Franklin-Simpson (7-8) with a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Dalton Fiveash added a double and an RBI for the Wildcats.
Cole Heinze started and took the loss for Franklin-Simpson, allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits and a pair of walks. He struck out seven.
The Wildcats are back in action Wednesday at Todd County Central at 7 p.m.
