Late field goal moves Logan County to 8-0

Lucas Arevalo connected on a 20-yard field goal with just 13 seconds to play to lift unbeaten Logan County to a 23-21 win over host Madisonville-North Hopkins on Friday night.

Cougars quarterback Tyler Ezell rushed for 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 40-yard score late in the fourth quarter.

Gary Hardy added 57 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Cougars, who improved to 8-0.

Logan County hosts Calloway County on Oct. 20.

Bowling Green 56, Barren County 0

Bowling Green ran away with five touchdowns in the first quarter on its way to a 56-0 win over Barren County at El Donaldson Stadium.

Bowling Green (6-2) led 49-0 at halftime on 12 plays for 195 yards and a 48-yard punt return for a touchdown by Ziyon Kenner. The Purples now have eight special teams touchdowns in eight games this year.

Junior quarterback Beau Buchanan threw four touchdown passes on just six completions. He opened the scoring with a 52-yard touchdown run.

Nash Hightower had a pair of scores on two receptions for 36 yards.

The Purples blocked two punts and held Barren County (0-8) to four first downs. Bowling Green hosts South Warren next Friday.

Greenwood snapped a two-game skid with 365 rushing yards in a 41-6 win over Grayson County on Friday at Gator Stadium.

Running back Triston Wilson led the Gators (3-5) with 173 yards and a 43-yard TD run in the third quarter to go up 27-0.

Quarterback Jackson Adams ran for two scores and completed 6-of-8 pass attempts for 61 yards and a 9-yard TD pass to Jake Sanson.

Glasgow 45, Monroe County 21

Glasgow rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to defeat Monroe County 45-21 on Friday night at Hank Royse Stadium.

The Falcons led 14-0 after one quarter before the Scotties (6-2) outscored them 45-7.

Sophomore quarterback Tanner Abernathy rushed for 150 yards, passed for 117 yards and had two scores in back-up relief for the injured Dalvin Smith.

Running back Nick Mitchell had 15 rushes for 94 yards and three touchdowns.

Griffin Murphy’s 36-yard touchdown reception on the final play of the first half tied the game at 21-21 at halftime.

Noah Howard’s 27-yard field goal put Glasgow up for good with 2:22 left in the third quarter.

Russellville 41, Fulton City 6

Visiting Russellville got two passing touchdowns and a rushing score from quarterback Jacob Naylor as the Panthers rolled to a 41-6 win Friday over Fulton City.

Russellville (6-2) opened the scoring on a 26-yard touchdown run by Javaren Robey.

Robey scored the Panthers’ second touchdown of the first quarter on a 17-yard return off a blocked punt.

Naylor connected with Kobe Kerr on a 29-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, then ran for a 64-yard touchdown. Edward Barber added a 29-yard touchdown and Naylor capped the Panthers’ second-quarter scoring with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Ty Collins.

McLean County 56, Butler County 12

Host McLean County scored 29 first-quarter points and built a 37-point halftime lead Friday en route to beating winless Butler County 56-12 in Calhoun.

Butler County managed only 28 rushing yards on 21 carries.

Tristan Phelps led the Bears with three catches for 50 yards, and Colton Embry added four catches for 36 yards and a score. Daltyn Havens completed 10 of 23 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.
