Lady Dragons earn season-opening soccer win

Jacey Bailey and Beatrice Malenga scored two goals apiece as Warren Central’s girls’ soccer team opened its season with a 6-0 win Thursday at Casey County.

Jaylynn Diaz-Monge and Janet Puntos-Navarro added goals for the Lady Dragons. McKayla Garrison tallied two assists.

Eriona Shabani had one assist.

Shabani, Warren Central’s goalkeeper, picked up the shutout.

Warren Central (1-0) is back in action Tuesday at Clinton County.

Barren County 3,

Glasgow 0

Hadleigh Hammer scored all three goals for host Barren County in a 3-0 win Thursday over Glasgow.

Elizabeth Bertram and Laney Smith had assists for the Trojanettes. Goalkeeper Emily Pedigo tallied the shutout for Barren County (2-0), which is back in action Tuesday against visiting Monroe County.

Glasgow (0-2) hosts Monroe County on Monday.

Warren East 11,

Breckinridge County 1

Haley Eller had five goals and two assists, and Haley Elrod chipped in with four goals and three assists as host Warren East rolled to an 11-1 win Thursday over Breckinridge County.

Lucy Patterson added two goals for the Lady Raiders. Andrea Hudson had an assist.

Warren East (2-1) is back in action Monday at Butler County.

Boys’ soccer

Hart County 4,

Butler County 2

Host Hart County picked up a 4-2 boys’ soccer win Thursday over Butler County.

Alex Diaz and Ernest Lee each scored a goal for Butler County. Dawson Phelps added an assist for the Bears.

Butler County (1-2) is back in action Tuesday against visiting Hopkins County Central.

Golf

Warren East splits with Grayson County

Warren East hosted Grayson County on Thursday at Diamond Caverns Golf Course.

Grayson won the boys’ competition 180-192, with the Lady Raiders winning the girls’ match 181-199. Morgan Collins and Samantha Reed led East’s girls.
