McCormick honors Auburn dealer
Daniel Smith of Shaker Equipment Sales in Auburn received McCormick’s North America Dealer Excellence Award for top-performing dealer in North America for 2015.
Shaker Equipment is a third-generation farm equipment dealership that began in 1975.
In 2008, Shaker Equipment took on the McCormick North America dealership. The business was second in sales in McCormick North America in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, Shaker Equipment’s sales reached an all-time high with 141 units sold.
Smith will be at the McCormick booth to answer questions at the National Farm Machinery Show from Wednesday to Saturday in Louisville.
Two join WKU Public Broadcasting
Emil Moffatt and Molly Swietek have taken leadership roles at WKU Public Broadcasting, according to a news release.
Moffatt, local host of “All Things Considered” in 2013-14, returns to WKU Public Radio as station manager. His new duties include overseeing operations for WKU’s student station, WWHR 91.7.
Moffatt’s news experience includes a year at Nashville public radio and three years at WBAP in Dallas. Moffatt, who also was a minor league baseball play-by-play announcer in Fort Worth, Texas, holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington.
“I am thrilled to be back at WKU Public Radio,” Moffatt said in the news release. “There are a lot of talented people here, and I feel we have the resources and the community support to do great things in the coming months and years. Having a source for high-quality news, music and entertainment on the radio is essential to any city. For years, that source has been WKU Public Radio, and I’m dedicated to making sure that commitment not only continues, but grows as well.”
Swietek, who was associate director in WKU’s Office of Sponsored Programs, joins WKU Public Broadcasting as development manager. She is responsible for providing leadership in achieving fundraising goals for WKU Public Radio and WKU-PBS.
Swietek has seven years of grants administration experience as well as experience in nonprofit management, marketing, public relations and financial planning. She has a bachelor’s degree in English from WKU and a master’s degree from Tennessee Technological University.
“I am looking forward to engaging with the community and becoming a strategic partner with our supporters as we work to sustain the high-quality programming and services of WKU Public Radio and WKU-PBS,” Swietek said in the news release.
JA chapter picks program manager
Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky named Abby Phillips program manager for the nonprofit organization that covers Allen, Barren, Logan, Simpson and Warren counties.
Phillips’ responsibilities include administering and managing school programs in the five counties, recruiting and maintaining classroom volunteers, coordinating programs with school officials and teachers and supporting fundraising and special events.
Before joining Junior Achievement, Phillips worked for Warren County Public Schools as a middle school teacher and counselor and at the Early Learning Center as a pre-K teacher.
Phillips graduated from WKU in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in middle school education and in 2008 with a Master of Arts degree in school counseling.
