Brian Nash doesn’t need to be re-elected

To City Commissioner Brian Nash.

I read what you answered to the Daily News questions on Oct. 25.

You said the most important duty of your office is to “Listen: Listen to all interested parties. … Evaluate and Act.” I have attended four or five city commission meetings over the last two to three years and watched meetings on television. I don’t see that you are listening; it looks like you enjoy playing with your pencil, raring back in your chair and gazing around at the ceiling. If you feel the most important duty of your office is to listen, why would you want people to think you’re bored?

I’ve also noticed that many citizens can speak to an issue but minds are made up by commissioners before the meeting even starts.

What is the point of addressing the commission if we are not heard? In particular, I remember the commission overturning a former city commission’s decision regarding the sale of the Sigma Nu house. How did this do anything but set a precedent of overturning a former commission for no reason, show residents living in the effected area that the present city commission knows better what is the best for them than they do, and show Mayor Walker the contempt you have for anything she speaks favorably about.

I did not see that you listened or evaluated, but you did act in a way that suited your agenda. I’m sure you are an intelligent, honest person, but there are other important traits needed to take care of our city. You are not who I want on the city commission.

There could be so much more advancement of our city if the commissioners could work as a team when it comes to analyzing the pros and cons of an issue, instead of automatically splitting into the same two factions no matter what the issue.
