Three Bowling Green men were indicted Wednesday by a Warren County grand jury in connection with a shooting on Plain Avenue.

Joey W. Proctor, 28, 259 Warren Way, was indicted on charges of first-degree assault and being a first-degree persistent felony offender; Michael Shane Duncan, 34, 123B Westwood Circle, was charged with first-degree assault by complicity and being a second-degree persistent felony offender; and Jimmy Carter Burton, 32, 1800 Blue Level Providence Road, was charged with first-degree assault by complicity.

The three men were implicated in the March 14 shooting of Marquise Newman, 19, outside his house on 144 Plain Ave.

Newman, who was treated and released from The Medical Center for a wound to his left buttock, told police shortly after the shooting that a black truck driving along Plain Avenue stopped so someone in the truck could talk to his friend.

As Newman walked over to where his friend was standing, he said, someone from inside the truck pulled out a gun and fired two shots.

Proctor is accused of the shooting, using a .44-caliber handgun, according to the indictment. Both he and Duncan remain in Warren County Regional Jail, each under a $50,000 bond; Burton was released March 27 on a $50,000 bond.

The following people were also indicted Wednesday by a Warren County grand jury:

Adam Saragossa, 20, 305 Warren Way, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a defaced firearm, transfer bond.

Michael T. Bears, 40, 1801 Morgantown Road No. 207, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, transfer bond.

Connie H. Jones, 52, 1385 Old Barren River Road, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper registration plate, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, transfer bond.

Matthew Kevin Richardson, 23, 1580 Browning Road, Rockfield, second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree persistent felony offender, transfer bond.

Lee Edward Ray, 55, 5301 Scottsville Road, Lot 94, fourth-degree assault (third or greater offense within five years), fourth-degree assault, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree persistent felony offender, transfer bond.

James F. Whitaker, 24, 7091 Morgantown Road, possession of drug paraphernalia (second offense), possession of marijuana, transfer bond.
