Please don’t shut swimming pool down

I am dismayed at the lack of public concern regarding the closure of the Bowling Green Aquatic Center.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this facility, it is home to many wonderful water-related activities. It serves our community as a center for swimming lessons, lifeguard training, lap swimming and water aerobics.

It promotes a healthy lifestyle for those who cannot participate in land-based exercise due to physical disabilities. It provides an environment where our senior citizens can socially and physically stay in shape. The benefits of water therapy are well known for those who suffer from arthritis, sports injuries, diabetes and high blood pressure.

The water aerobics program run by Sally Ferguson has a loyal following of members who attend classes several times a week. Closing this facility before a new one is built will certainly affect the health and well-being of many of our citizens. Please do not shut us down!
