Hawks earns wins record at Warren East
Ryan Hawks had 15 strikeouts and set a Warren East record in defeating Greenwood 8-5 on Monday.
Hawks earned his 24th win to become the winningest pitcher at Warren East. He retired 15 batters in a complete game, surrendered four hits and five runs.
The Raiders (6-10 overall, 1-3 District 14) held a 6-2 lead as the Gators (10-5, 3-1) made a push with three runs in the sixth inning. Warren East added insurance with RBI singles from Will Howard and Nolan Ford in the top of the seventh.
Zach Upright had two hits for the Gators.
Barren County 13, Warren Central 1 (5)
Barren County put the game away early with five runs in the fifth to run rule Warren Central.
Taye Poynter and Justin Combs each had three hits for the Trojans (6-9), which totaled 12 hits.
Jackson Mutter earned the win in five innings with 10 strikeouts and one hit allowed.
Skylar Martinez singled in the bottom of the fifth to score Jerry Adams for the only run by the Dragons (4-9).
SOFTBALL
South Warren 2, ACS 0
Selynna Metcalfe threw a five-hit shutout as the Spartans beat Allen County-Scottsville. Metcalfe struck out six and issued two walks in the win.
Emily Reynolds drove in both runs for the Spartans (9-6). She doubled in the first inning to bring home leadoff hitter Jessica Bush and her single into center field scored Katlyn Hare in the fifth.
Daisy Wilkerson had two hits for ACS (6-12), which left eight runners on base.
Glasgow 6,
Bowling Green 5
The Lady Scotties scored all six runs in the last three innings and beat Bowling Green.
Glasgow (4-8) took the lead on an error in the top of the sixth, then collected two more runs off three errors in the seventh. The Lady Purples’ comeback effort fell short with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Kendle White had a triple and Abigail Peay earned two hits for Bowling Green (7-8).
