How did the business get started? My father, Houston Moody, started a remodeling business in 1967 and soon saw a need for a specialty company to repair commercial and residential losses caused by fire, wind and water.

What is your background? I attended Eastern Kentucky University with a major in construction technology. I worked in the family business, from pushing a broom to overseeing jobs and now managing the business.

What are your biggest challenges as a business? Training and keeping the best people while educating the public about our specialty business.

What’s your business philosophy? Prompt, courteous service. Our customers have just experienced a catastrophic loss and they want to return to normal ASAP.

What issues are affecting your industry? Gas prices are a huge drain now. Some people are still unaware that specialty companies like ours exist.

What are the factors that make your business successful? Having great people who love their work, love people and enjoy seeing a home raised from the ashes.

How do you handle competition? We welcome good competition – they help create and educate a market. We detest the bad (competition), as they stain the industry.

What is your advice to someone thinking about opening a business? Don’t open a business just to make money. Do it because you love it, you’re good at it and the money will be a by-product.
