WKU Academic Club in National Quiz Bowl

The Western Kentucky University Academic Competition Club has qualified for the national quiz bowl tournament for the first time in school history, a release said.

The five-member WKU team participated in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments Region 5 Sectional Championship Tournament on Feb. 9 in Knoxville, Tenn. With a strong finish at the event, WKU earned an at-large bid to the NAQT Intercollegiate Championship Tournament on April 13 in Chicago.

WKU team members are Matthew Riggle, a freshman from Huntsville, Ala.; Nick Conder, a senior from Leitchfield; Cole Phelps, a junior from Leitchfield; Terence Donohue, a junior from Radcliff; and Joey Wallace, a sophomore from Bowling Green. The team advisor is Guy Jordan, assistant professor in WKU’s Art Department.
