Adoption

Adoption Support for Kentucky groups meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the ALIVE Center, 1818 U.S. 31-W By-Pass in Bowling Green, and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at Glasgow Baptist Church, 401 S. The Family Enrichment Center-Adoption Resource Program Parent Support Group and Training meets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at the First Christian Church, 1106 State St. The meetings are open to all state, private and international adoptive and/or foster families. Alcohol

Al-Anon’s Bowling Green Friendship Group meets at 7 p.m. each Tuesday, at 10 a.m. each Wednesday and at 5:45 p.m. each Thursday at Crossland Community Church.

Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s disease support group meets from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at The Medical Center’s Health and Wellness Center at 1857 Tucker Way. This support group is open to families and caregivers who need additional support caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease. Blindness

The South Central Kentucky Council of the Blind, a personal and family support organization that connects blind individuals, people with low-vision and people losing their eyesight to a network of knowledge and resources, including a liberal grant program, holds quarterly meetings at 7 p.m. at the Disability Resource Initiative, 624 Eastwood St., Bowling Green. Brain & spine tumor

A brain and spine tumor support group meets from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at The Medical Center’s Health and Wellness Center at 1857 Tucker Way. The meetings will include education on a variety of topics as well as support from health professionals and others who have had brain and spine tumors.

Brain injury

Celiac disease

A celiac support group meets from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at The Medical Center’s Health and Wellness Center at 1857 Tucker Way. The group helps those with celiac disease follow a gluten-free diet with recipes, cooking tips and ideas for eating out with gluten and other dietary intolerances.

ICAN, International Cesarean Awareness Network, of Bowling Green meets at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the ALIVE Center, 1818 U.S. 31-W By-Pass. The group offers support and education to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery and promoting vaginal birth after cesarean. Family counseling

The Talley Family Counseling Center, in Gary Ransdell Hall at Regents Avenue and Normal Drive, offers counseling for a variety of issues. Graduate practicum and intern students, working under the supervision of university faculty who are licensed mental health professionals, provide services on an individual, group and/or relational basis. Food allergies

Food Education and Allergy Support Team – FEAST – meets from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at The Medical Center Medical Conference Room. FEAST is a nonprofit group that provides education, information and support to food allergic people and their families. Each meeting has a specific topic or program of discussion. Grief

Compassionate Friends Support Group meets from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at The Medical Center’s Health and Wellness Center at 1857 Tucker Way. The group offers friendship, understanding and hope to bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings. The mission is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief after the death of a child of any age, and to provide information to help others be supportive.

A Shoulder to Cry On, a support group for widows, widowers or anyone who has lost a loved one, meet at 6:30 p.m. the first and third Mondays of each month at Holy Trinity Lutheran School, 553 Ashmoor Ave., in Room EO 110. For more information, call Anna at 270-991-3616.

Healing Hearts is an opportunity for people who have lost a loved one to socialize with others who are going through grief. MOMS Club of Bowling Green is a support and activity group for stay-at-home moms.
