GHS quarterback Cash-ing it in

For the Glasgow football team, Parker Cash has been money in 2010.

The junior quarterback has been putting up big numbers since the opening week of the season and there’s no indication he’ll stop as the Scotties make a run in the Class 2A state playoffs.

“Just everybody’s contributing and when one person goes down, someone else finds a way to step up,” the junior said this week.

Cash has rushed for 980 yards, thrown for 815 and accounted for 20 touchdowns this season. His efforts are a big part of Glasgow’s 8-1 start even though Cash is quick to deflect praise.

“The line – I mean, they’ve been giving me time all year,” he said. “(Running backs Tavion Parrish and Jalenn Sublett and Michael Bradley) are back there running the ball to open things up. And the defense has turned it around, making more stops.”

Cash said he prefers to run rather than pass because “I get to hit people.” Glasgow finishes out the regular season when it hosts Franklin-Simpson on Friday before starting the Class 2A state playoffs. Do the Scotties have a chance of winning a state title?

“If everybody gets healthy and we all got to stick together,” Cash said. “Nobody can get selfish. I think we got a chance just as good as anybody.”
