July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza at State Park

Your contribution is needed to help the Friends of Barren River Lake host the annual fireworks event at Barren River State Park on Monday, July 4. The Friends group reports that they are behind in reaching their fund-raising goal. In order to have a fantastic gang-busting show, financial assistance is requested.  Send your donation to Friends of Barren River Lake, Inc., PO Box 213, Glasgow, KY 42142-0213. The Friends group is a 501(c) 3 organization and a donation is tax-deductible. Receipts will be provided upon request.

Activities will begin around 5:00pm as food vendors arrive and a band begins playing under the shelter at the top of the hill near the tennis court. Food vendors will be announced soon, but a regular vendor at this event, Papa John’s, has committed to offer delicious slices of pizza and drinks.  Bring your family and friends to celebrate Independence Day! The fireworks show will begin around 9:00pm.

The Annual Fourth of July Beach Party will not take place due to lake’s high water level that prevents the beach from being open to the public.

Be sure to stop by the information table to learn how you can become a member and supporter of the Friends of Barren River Lake, Inc. Donations can also be made to support the many programs offered by the Friends of Barren River Lake, Inc.

Following the fireworks, there will be two lanes of traffic exiting the park. The left lane will turn onto Highway 31E North toward Glasgow and the right lane will turn onto Highway 31E South toward Scottsville. Be careful and courteous and enjoy the Fourth of July holiday with your family and friends. You may contact Ann Stewart, Treasurer of the Friends of Barren River Lake, at 270-651-3161 for information.
