Community Education and the Stand for Children sponsors and partners announce plans for this year’s Stand for Children Day.  This year, the 13th annual Stand for Children Day in Bowling Green, will be held at June 9th, on the South Lawn of WKU.  This year’s event will feature many activities for children and adults, as Bowling Green celebrates services for families and children.  There will be music, games, and entertainment on site.

The theme for Stand 2010 is “Racing Toward the Future,” and focuses on literacy. Children’s books will be collected at the Kiwanis Tent, to be donated to Boys & Girls Club and the Housing Authority WROTE Foundation after school program. Additional drop off sites for the books include American Bank & Trust locations, Warren County Library branches, and the Community Education office.

The week of June 1 – 12 will be declared Stand for Children Week, and a variety of activities will take place around the community, including guest readers visiting area daycare centers and camp sites.  A joint city-county proclamation and Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting will take place on June 4th, 10:00 a.m., also at the Guthrie Bell Tower.
