South Warren, Warren Central among programs on move for 2025-26 football realignment

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control finalized football alignments for the 2025-26 two-year cycle during its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday in Lexington, with several area programs slated to change districts after this coming season.
South Warren, which has competed in Class 5A, District 2 since 2017, will move up to Class 6A, District 2 in 2025. The Spartans would join a district composed of Central Hardin, Daviess County and Meade County.
Warren Central, which played the last two years in Class 6A, District 2 will move down to Class 5A, District 2 along with Barren County – which has played in Class 6A, District 2 since 2019. Those two schools will join current Class 5A, District 2 programs Bowling Green, Grayson County, Greenwood and Ohio County in a six-team district.
Franklin-Simpson, which moved down to Class 3A, District 2 this past season, will move back up to Class 4A, District 1 in 2025 and join a six-team grouping including Allen County-Scottsville, Calloway County, Logan County, Paducah Tilghman and Warren East.
Edmonson County, which has played in Class 2A since 2019 – first in District 3 before shifting to District 2 in 2022 – moves up to Class 3A, District 2 to join holdovers Adair County, Butler County, Glasgow, Hart County and LaRue County – which shifts from Class 3A, District 3.
Russellville remains in Class A, District 1 along with Ballard Memorial, Caverna and Fulton County.
