Lady Hornets second in final Daily News poll of season

The Metcalfe County girls’ basketball team moves up to second place in the final Daily News Area Top 10 poll of the season.

The Lady Hornets swap places with Barren County after beating the Trojanettes 47-38 last week. Franklin-Simpson is the unanimous No. 1, holding the top spot for the entire season.

Just behind Metcalfe County at second and Barren County at third is Warren East holding in fourth. Cumberland County remains fifth in the final regular-season poll.

Bowling Green, Allen County-Scottsville, Edmonson County, Logan County and Todd County Central round out the girls’ poll.

On the boys’ side, Warren Central finishes the final poll as the unanimous number one. Bowling Green remains second, with Clinton County holding at third. Butler County holds in fourth and Barren County remains in fifth.

Greenwood, Cumberland County, South Warren, Warren East and Russell County round out the final boys’ poll.

This week’s voting panel includes Daily News sports writer Micheal Compton; Daily News sports editor Jeff Nations; Brian Davis of The Franklin Favorite in Franklin; Jay Turner of WCLU 104.7 FM in Glasgow; Don Meador of The Citizen-Times in Scottsville; Joe Brunk of Sporting Times Broadcast Network; Chase Landrum of WCLU 103.1 in Glasgow and Kaden Gaylord-Day WBKO-TV.

Voting was conducted before Monday’s games.
