I am pleased to present Bryan R. Young, Artist and Illustrator. Mr. Young is a resourceful artist, doing mostly commercial work renderings for architectural and medical professionals, he has made a career with his talents using pencil, pen and ink, watercolor and acrylics. His pieces shown here are some of his pencil on paper works. He begins his works with sketches and usually lots of photos of his subjects. His ideas stem from viewed scenes and photographs as well as from his imagination and he said that he likes action as well as still life composition. His pieces range from 5? X 7? to 18? X 24?. ?The bigger the piece, the more detail and I am always looking for a challenge.? His speed varies, some he has worked on for two years before completion, others take an average of three weeks, and some only take one week. Bryan said, ?I like to do things that have never been done.? Bryan Young moved from Montgomery, Alabama where he was attending the University of South Alabama as a Biology major. He transferred to Western Kentucky University and will graduate in May with a MBA degree. Bryan has no family history in art, but thanks to his parents bringing along pencils and paper when he attended church as a child, he developed a love of drawing from the pew. ?This is where my desire to complete my works began, I would bring the same unfinished pieces back the next Sunday and work on them till they were done.? Mr. Young has originals and prints all over town. Check them out at: 440 Main, Mancino?s (both locations), B & J Frame shop, Indian Hills Gallery, Artifacts, Bev?s Studio, Barbara Stewart?s or Meyer Mortgage. He is also showing at Living Hope, Operation Pride, Citizens Bank in Alabama, Alabama Power and in the states of New York, Georgia, Atlanta, Florida, Kansas, Montana, Arizona, Wisconsin and Texas. He is working on a piece for Negalus, Mexico and another for Winchester, England. He has also done a cover story illustration for The American Journal for Nurse Practitioners. I asked Bryan to explain for us how he made a career out of his art, he said, ?It?s 10% talent and 90% ability to see markets or where a piece will fit in. You have to be willing to go out and knock on doors. It?s not what you can do, but how you can make something apply to it.? Mr. Young wants to expand his work to another dimension by beginning a studio in August where he is going to work with stained glass, etching glass and metal works. ?I am always looking for new projects, things that have never been done before. There is an internal excitement about just wanting to get it done right.? Bryan R. Young leaves us with these words, ?I watch what has never been done, draw what cannot be seen and tell thousands without saying a word.?
