ADAIRVILLE Irby Eugene Jr Dempsey Jr., 79, of Adairville died March 5, 2005, at his home.

The Logan County native was a past employee of Betts Funeral Home and the cities of Adairville and Auburn and a member of Adairville Church of Christ. He was a son of the late Irby Eugene Dempsey Sr. and Bessie Lee Jennings Dempsey and the husband of the late Virginia Dempsey.

Funeral was today at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Jack Dempsey and his wife, Joetta, of Bowling Green; a daughter, Carolyn Barnes and her husband, Franklin, of Adairville; a special friend and companion, Doye Edith Law; five grandchildren, Joe Barnes, Tony Barnes, Leslie Martin, John Dempsey and Jeffrey Dempsey; and five great-grandchildren, Brittany Martin, Baylee Martin, Hillary Slater, Lindsay Barnes and Daniel Dempsey.
