Bowling Green Senior Girl Scout Martha Shults, the daughter of Mariann and Mark Shults, was recognized for achieving Girl Scoutings highest honor, The Girl Scout Gold Award, on May 6 at a statewide ceremony in Louisville. Shults is a resident of Bowling Green and attends Greenwood High School. She is a member of Troop 153, led by Mariann Shults. Army Pvt. Jason T. Pedigo, the son of Bette D. Gaines of Bowling Green, has graduated from the petroleum supply specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.He graduated from a home-school program in 2002.Navy Airman Kendall C. Henderson, son of Anna Long and Kendall Henderson, both of Morgantown, recently returned from a 10-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, homeported in Everett, Wash. Hendersons scheduled six-month deployment began in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and southern Watch in July 2002. As the battle group neared completion of its deployment in December 2002, the USS Abraham Lincoln Battle Group was recalled to duty in the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Henderson joined the Navy in March 2002.Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Carson R. Bowles, son of Shiela E. and Rex R. Bowles of Franklin, is preparing to reboard ships of the USS Nassau Amphibious Ready Group while assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit based in Camp LeJeune, N.C.Bowles unit had been on a routine overseas deployment since August 2002, participating in exercises and operations in Djibouti, Kosovo, Kenya, the Arabian Gulf and Iraq. Bowles was preparing to return to his home base when he received orders to support Operation Iraqi Freedom in March. Army Pvt. Joshua A.
