The Capitol Arts Alliance presents Will Makar and the Red Line September 2, 2010 7:30 pm.
American Idol contestant from season five Will Makar and his band The Red Line will be performing at the Capitol Arts Center on September 2nd. Makar and his band are currently in competition to open for John Mayer on his upcoming tour. Karen Hume, Executive Director of the Capitol Arts Alliance said she is very excited about the concert. “It not only gives us a chance to showcase some great local talent with the Fender Benders opening, but it gives us the opportunity to have a talented up and coming act such a Will Makar and The Red Line with us also. It will be a night of quality entertainment.”
Will Makar & The Red Line are a combination of memorable pop hooks and radio-ready rock, with an unforgettable live show that comes from hard work, commitment, and the deep musical talent of the band assembled by frontman Will Makar. The 6-piece band came together in the fall of 2009 while they were all attending The Berkley College of Music in Boston. They began playing live gigs within weeks of forming with a set list drawn from Will’s debut album as well as crowd-favorite covers by Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Jason Mraz and many others. The band’s self-titled debut is a refreshing blast of energy and musicianship that is both instantly familiar and truly unique with the first single, “Love Cliché” which is starting to get some radio recognition.
Opening for Makar and The Red Line will be local soul and R&B band the Fender Benders.
In addition to the concert, Labor Day weekend will also bring Idols of another kind…Corvettes! The National Corvette Museum is celebrating their 16th Anniversary with a 3-day event, beginning with the Thursday night welcome by Downtown Merchants and Professionals. Locals will enjoy seeing rows of the colorful cars at Fountain Square as the Corvettes come back “home” to enjoy not only the Museum, but also the great offerings by the downtown merchants and restaurants. Katie Frassinelli, Corvette Museum Marketing Manager commented “Bowling Green really rolls out the red carpet for visitors, and our Corvette enthusiasts just love all the great shops, entertainment and eateries on the Square!”
Tickets for the concert are $10.00 and are available on the website www.capitolarts.com or at the Capitol Arts box office. For more information call 270-782-2787.
