Business specializes in barnwood, rustic furniture and design

AUBURN — When Amy Gearlds met Keith and Lindsay Scarborough and found out they were starting a new business, she knew she had to ask them for help.

“They did two projects for us,” she said. “They built a barnwood wall in my son’s nursery, and they put two poplar shelves in my laundry room. We knew they had done some barnwood in their home before, so we knew we wanted them to do some in ours.”

The Scarborough’s business, Wildwood Revival, is located in Auburn and provides custom-made wood products, Lindsay Scarborough said.

“We specialize in barnwood, rustic furniture and design,” she said. “Barnwood and cedar are the two main woods we use for our products.”

Most of the wood comes from barns in Kentucky, Lindsay Scarborough said.

“The cedar is local from a place we work with in Logan County,” she said.

People often ask her how much a project costs, but Lindsey Scarborough said it’s hard to know.

“It all depends on the type of wood, the type of finish and if they want it installed,” she said. “I feel like our prices are competitive. We can work with your budget.”

The Scarboroughs have touches of their work in their own home, including an accent wall in the bathroom, a headboard in the guest room and a tongue and groove ceiling on the first floor. One of the projects in an outdoor living space involved shelving.

“I let it weather for three months outside and sanded it,” Lindsay Scarborough said.

They also have barn doors.

“They’re pretty popular,” Lindsay Scarborough said.

They don’t do their work alone, Lindsay Scarborough said. That’s how they got started in the business.

“We have established a relationship with Amish families in the community,” she said. “We started out (having furniture made) for ourselves. Over time people started asking us to do it for them. Keith and I wondered if people would like this in Bowling Green.”

Wildwood Revival’s Facebook page went up Dec. 27. While the business is new, the Scarboroughs have been in the business of building for 10 years.

“We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback and several orders,” Lindsay Scarborough said.

When a client comes to the Scarboroughs wanting an item, they combine the client’s style and offer suggestions, Lindsay Scarborough said.

“If someone were to call me and say ‘I need a new table for my dining room,’ I use what I know has worked before and they show me their style,” she said.

The turnaround time for a piece is about six weeks, Lindsay Scarborough said.

“We deliver locally,” she said. “We also deliver nationally.”

The Scarboroughs love what they do, Lindsay Scarborough said.

“Keith and I have a similar style,” she said. “I think you can see this in these pieces.”

Lindsay Scarborough wants to work with more builders.

“We have so many good local builders in our area. I would love to combine a homeowner’s style with our style and build something we can be proud of,” she said. “Our next step is establishing relationships with other builders and doing more customized homes whether it’s new homes or remodels.”

The Scarboroughs do some of the work themselves, Lindsay Scarborough said, but some of it is beyond their scope.

“I would arrange that and you would have a professional and they would be employed by us,” she said.

Gearlds is satisfied with their work.

“I think it’s wonderful. It turned out exactly how we wanted it to look,” she said. “We don’t have anything planned right now, but if we do it we would definitely use them again.”
