Sumitomo wellness program earns award

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems of Bowling Green received Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement Worksite Wellness Awards for its company wellness program.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Department of Public Health and Wellness Director Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt presented the awards, recognizing small, medium and large businesses that have implemented health promotion strategies including topics such as nutrition, physical activity and tobacco control.

Wellness Coordinator Jeanie Dickerson accepted the Platinum-level award on behalf of Sumitomo.

The awards are based on the nationally recognized Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Worksite Wellness Scorecard. Points are assigned for proven health promotion strategies in several areas, including tobacco control, nutrition, physical activity and stress management.
