Greenwood hosts season-opening All-Comers meet

Greenwood High School hosted the opening competition of the outdoor track season Saturday with the Warren County/Bowling Green All-Comers meet.

Bowling Green’s Jasmine Varner scored wins in the 200-meter dash (28.34 seconds), 100 hurdles (18.00) and 300 hurdles (50.41). Varner also combined with Erica Smith, Bella Elder and Grace Klusty on the Lady Purples’ winning 800 relay (1:54.84).

Bowling Green’s Kristin Dent won the 800 (2:30.80) and 1,600 (5:45.99), and joined Ava Priest, Klusty and Smith on the Lady Purples’ first-place 1,600 relay (4:32.57).

Greenwood got individual wins from Callie Strode in the 400 (1:06.42), Lynda Scannell in the 3,200 (14:39.19), Carly Miller in the shot put (29 feet, 4.25 inches) and Ashlyn McGehee in the discus (90-03). Madi Daniels, Scannell, Jessie Strode and Kelsey Dinning combined for the Lady Gators’ winning 3,200 relay (10:54.61).

South Warren’s Andrea Lenoir won the long jump (15-02.75) and Molly Elder won the triple jump (33-00.75).

Warren East’s Tanaya Bailey won the 100 (13.93) and Warren Central’s quartet of Amiyah Davis, Machozi Eale, Jaida Tooley and Arianna Simmons won the 400 relay (56.12).

In the boys’ meet, Greenwood’s Hunter Hawkins won the 200 (24.53) and triple jump (42-00.00). The Gators also scored individual wins by Michael Hathaway in the long jump (19-03.50) and Bradley Herman in the shot put (36-10.00). Greenwood’s Soe Maung, Ben Patterson, Will Sanders and Walker Goshorn won the 1,600 relay (3:55.71).

Bowling Green’s John Downing won the 110 hurdles (17.92) and 300 hurdles (43.77), Deshawn Crowe won the 800 (2:03.36), Tucker Middleton won the discus (113-05) and the Purples’ quartet of Thomas Tinius, Noah Satterly, Ryan Dent and Crowe took first in the 3,200 relay (8:46.24).

South Warren got individual wins from Clayton Bush in the 100 (12.05), Konner Mason in the 400 (55.29) and Kyle Woodward in the 3,200 (10:24.07). The Spartans’ Joshua Bumps, Bush, MJ Boley and Marcus Elmore won the 400 relay (46.23) and the 800 relay (1:36.68).

Warren East’s Jacob England won the 1,600 (4:44.23).
