Vette City Roller Derby home bout
Fireworks won’t just be in the air this July – they’ll be on the track as well as Vette City Roller Derby’s A- and B-teams take to the rink against the Southern Illinois Rollergirls in a doubleheader bout on Saturday, July 10 at The Skate Box, 506 Three Springs Road.
VCRD and SIRG, both established in 2009, clashed and crashed on the track last month in Marion, Illinois, and now both teams are out to prove their superiority in Bowling Green. The Bowling Green Hot Broads are looking to hold on to their winning record over Southern Illinois’ B-team, while the Vette City Vixens seek to avenge their twopoint loss to the So Ill All-Star Team.
Doors open for this epic event at 4:30 p.m., with the first bout beginning at 5:30 p.m. Halftime entertainment will be provided by our zombie cheerleaders, the Little Dead Gore-vettes, while our amazing announcer Latenight Lyle will call the action with his trademark enthusiasm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit a local charity. Ticket information will be up soon at www.vettecityrollerderby.com.
Vette City Roller Derby’s first bout, an intraleague contest in May, brought nearly 700 people to The Skate Box to enjoy Bowling Green’s first and only flat-track roller derby league. Established in 2009, VCRD boasts a roster of approximately 40 skaters who practice three times a week and compete in bouts around the region. We are always recruiting skaters, referees, volunteers, statisticians, and cheerleaders, so visit www.vettecityrollerderby.com for more information.
