Vandals damage disabled vehicle on Glen Lily Road

Bowling Green police on Wednesday responded to the 1000 block of Glen Lily Road after a woman reported more than $1,000 in damage to her vehicle while it was disabled on the side of the road.

The owner told police that her tire deflated so she pulled off the side of the road and walked to go get her husband. In the time that she was gone and returned, someone shattered most of the windows and sunroof on the vehicle, according to police records.

The vandal or vandals also dented the hood, trunk, quarter panels and doors with what was likely a blunt object. A Warren County sheriff’s deputy arrived at the scene and advised the officer taking the report that a similar incident occurred in that area a month ago.

Identity theft — A Texas man received a letter from the Kentucky Department of Revenue shortly after filing his income taxes saying that he owed money to the state.

The man has never worked or lived in Kentucky and called Bowing Green police on Wednesday to report the incident. He contacted his local Social Security agency where he learned that someone who was employed by Quality Personnel had used his Social Security number and the same number was used for employment at Chik-fil-A here.

The incident remains under investigation.

Scam — A Bowling Green man is out $1,200 after sending a MoneyGram to someone who advertised a home for sale on Craigslist, according to city police records.

The man told police that he communicated with someone who he later learned was using a fake name and sent that person $1,200 to buy a house advertised for sale. The man drove past the house and checked on a real estate website and saw that the house was listed for sale, so he thought the transaction was legitimate.

Impersonating a peace officer — A man in the 1300 block of Park Street told Bowling Green police on Tuesday that another man knocked on his door and claimed to be a Nashville Police officer looking for a woman.

The man who lives in the home asked for police identification and the other man changed his story and said he was a Bowling Green police officer. The man then left that address and began knocking on other doors.

Police later identified the man as Trevellyn Head, 35, 443 Glen Lily Road. He was charged with impersonating a peace officer and lodged in Warren County Regional Jail where he posted a $250 bond Wednesday and was released.
