Buchanan leads Lady Purples over University Heights

Bowling Green freshman Whitaker Buchanan scored six goals Thursday as the Lady Purples handed University Heights its first loss this season in a 9-2 win in Hopkinsville.

Buchanan scored four goals in the first half as Bowling Green (7-0) led 5-0 at the half.

Madison Carby, Riley Thompson and Fiona Manivong also scored. Caroline Buchanan had two assists.

Bowling Green led 6-0 before allowing its first goal. The Lady Purples entered the game ranked first in the state defensively with one goal allowed through their first six games.

Whitaker Buchanan has 21 goals this season.

South Warren 10, Todd County Central 0

Laura and Sofia Hasani scored three goals and tallied three assists each as host South Warren claimed a 10-0 girls’ soccer win Thursday over Todd County Central.

Kinsey Nelson added a pair of goals. Adelina Bosnjakovic and Keelie Martin chipped in with one goal each.

Haley McGee and Makayla Mosier each tallied an assist for the Spartans. Goalkeeper Therese Bohnlein earned the shutout.

South Warren (4-4) is back in action Sept. 14 at home against Glasgow.

Warren Central 4, Taylor County 1

Adelisa Becirovic scored two goals and added an assist to lead visiting Warren Central’s girls’ soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Taylor County on Thursday.

Adema Becirovic also scored two goals. Jacey Bailey had an assist for the Lady Dragons.

Warren Central (6-2) returns to action Saturday at Logan County.

Logan County 3, Franklin-Simpson 2, OT

Host Logan County earned a 3-2 girls’ soccer victory in overtime Thursday against Franklin-Simpson.

Hannah Goss, Monica Hines and Abigail Lindsey scored one goal apiece for Logan County (3-3).

The Lady Cougars host Warren Central on Saturday.

Franklin-Simpson (1-5) is at Owensboro on Saturday.

Bowling Green 7, Warren East 1

Alex Yusk scored twice to lead Bowling Green to a 7-1 win at Warren East on Thursday.

Brooks Goodwin, Chris Miller and Taylor Neal all scored second-half goals to help snap a three-game losing skid.

The Purples (3-5 overall, 2-2 District 14) host St. Xavier at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Warren East (2-7, 0-5) travels to Monroe County on Tuesday.

Warren Central 4, Glasgow 0

Bawi Thang scored a pair of goals and added an assist as visiting Warren Central picked up a 4-0 boys’ soccer win Thursday over Glasgow.

Elocho Ramazani and Samuel Rodriguez added a goal apiece for the Dragons, who improved to 7-0. Goalkeeper Kemal Esmic picked up the shutout.

Warren Central is back in actin Saturday against Madison Central in the Boots and Butts Soccer Classic in Hopkinsville.

Glasgow (5-2) is at Butler County on Saturday.
