Barren County Antiques Brochure wins Traverse Award

The Glasgow-Barren County Tourist & Convention Commission received an award in the 2011 Kentucky Travel Industry Association’s (KTIA) Traverse Awards for Excellence in Tourism Marketing competition. This award was for an 8-page 4-color Antiques Brochure that is available at the tourism office in downtown Glasgow.

The Glasgow-Barren County Tourist & Convention Commission received its award Tuesday, October 18 during the Traverse Gala held at the Lexington Convention Center as part of the 2011 Kentucky Travel Industry Association’s Annual Conference.

Kentucky travel and tourism businesses and marketing organizations vie for awards in 21 separate categories during the annual competition produced by the Kentucky Travel Industry Association. A panel of out-of-state experts judged entries from across the state for this year’s presentation of awards.

Traverse Awards for Excellence in Tourism Marketing are open to Kentucky Travel Industry Association and Kentucky Hotel & Lodging Association members marketing a tourism product or service in Kentucky. All entries must have been published or distributed within the past year. Each entry is judged for concept, creativity, design and how well it relates to its audience.

According to KTIA President/CEO Kay Berggren, “This year’s annual travel conference had the highest attendance in history, which is a tribute to our partners for their support and understanding of the importance of this industry. This year’s Traverse Award entries were considered by our professional judges to be some of the best in the nation and every award was well deserved.”

The Kentucky Travel Industry Association is a Frankfort-based state association that represents every segment of Kentucky’s tourism industry. The 950-member Association offers continuing education programs, works in the area of governmental relations, produces four state-wide travel conferences each year and provides legislative advocacy for Kentucky’s travel industry.
