Task force dismantles meth lab inside Russellville home

South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force investigators dismantled a methamphetamine lab capable of producing 8 to 10 grams of meth, according to a news release from the task force.

Someone called 911 on Saturday to report a man passed out or possibly dead on the front porch at 534 Hancock Lake Road in Russellville, according to a news release from the task force.

When law enforcement officers arrived, they found the resident lying on the front porch, according to the release. He told officers that he was looking for a tool that had fallen between the slats on his porch, task force Director Jacky Hunt said.

Officers smelled a chemical odor coming from inside the home and asked to search the home, Hunt said. The resident gave consent to search the home, and officers found and dismantled an active meth lab.

No arrests were made, Hunt said. Investigators anticipate presenting the case to an upcoming Logan County grand jury.

Wanton endangerment — Russellville Police Department officers were dispatched at 3:59 a.m. Sunday to a shots fired call at East Fifth and North Morgan streets.

Numerous people told police that Isaiah Hampton, 26, fired several shots before driving away, according to a RPD news release.

Officers found Hampton on East Sixth Street, according to the release. He was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle.

He was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond, according to Logan County jail records.
