Police: BG man shot in leg during argument
A Bowling Green man was shot in the leg as he attempted to intervene during an argument between his fiancee and the shooter.
Eduardo Hernandez, 39, reported being shot just before 10:30 p.m. Monday at Skyline Mobile Home Park, 1856 Loop St.
Hernandez was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.
A Bowling Green Police Department incident report said officers responded to a residence at the mobile home park and obtained statements from Hernandez and his fiancee, Ruth Ann Phelps.
Hernandez gave police the name of the person who shot him. The name was redacted in the incident report.
Phelps told police the suspect came to her residence unexpectedly a few minutes before the shooting.
Phelps said the suspect accused her at one point of stealing some valuable Hot Wheels cars, and she responded that the suspect’s girlfriend had given her some toy cars, according to the report.
A confrontation ensued in which Phelps was slapped and Hernandez was shot when he attempted to intervene, the report said.
Police canvassed the neighborhood but were unable to locate the suspect.
