East’s England, Franklin-Simpson’s DeGraffenreid win SKY Conference titles

Warren East’s Jacob England and Franklin-Simpson’s Jaydee DeGraffenreid captured individual championships Thursday in the SKY Conference championship cross-country meet held on the Holy Spirit Church grounds.

England, a senior, won the boys’ 5,000-meter race in 16 minutes, 4.80 seconds. DeGraffenreid, an eighth-grader, took the girls’ 5,000 meters in 19:52.33.

Led by England, runner-up Colton Bullington and Jacob Williams (fifth), Warren East’s boys’ won the team championship with 33 points. Greenwood was second, followed by Bowling Green, South Warren and Warren Central.

Greenwood’s girls won the team championship with 32 points, followed by South Warren, Warren East, Bowling Green, Butler County and Glasgow.

In the boys’ meet, Bowling Green got top-10 finishes from DeShawn Crowe (third), Mike Kanan (sixth) and Noah Satterly (eighth).

Greenwood’s top runners were Kyle Heltsley (fourth), Will Sanders (ninth) and Cole Jackson (10th). South Warren’s Hunter Clemons was seventh.

For the Lady Gators, Kelsey Dinning (fourth), Jessie Strode (fifth), Jillian Rimel (eighth) and Madi Daniels (ninth) all finished in the top 10.

Bowling Green’s Kristin Dent was second overall and Warren East’s Emma Steff was sixth. South Warren got two top-10 finishes from Isabelle Graves (third) and Madeline Irvin (seventh). Butler County’s Autumn Jenkins finished 10th.

Boys’ soccer

Glasgow 7, Clinton County 0

Alejandro Bueso scored three goals and added an assist to lead Glasgow to a 7-0 victory Thursday over host Clinton County in the District 15 tournament championship.

Marc Buchannan added two goals and two assists, Chris Goulbourne had a goal and two assists, and Adam Garrett had one assist for the Scotties.

Goalkeeper Brantley Estes earned the shutout for Glasgow (18-2), which returns to action in next week’s Region 4 tournament at Greenwood.
