Greenwood grad Locke nets 2 goals for Spalding in win

Spalding University junior midfielder Lauren Locke (Greenwood Class of 2015) tallied a pair of goals in the Golden Eagles’ 8-0 women’s soccer road win Thursday over conference rival Iowa Wesleyan.

Locke got Spalding’s first score when she struck for an unassisted goal just 8:34 into the match held in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

Locke got her second goal, also unassisted, less than five minutes later with another score at the 13:23 mark. Locke has three goals this season.

Spalding (5-4 overall, 2-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Association) is back in action Saturday at Eureka (Ill.).

Kentucky Wesleyan junior midfielder Sidney Pruitt (Bowling Green Class of 2014) scored the Panthers’ lone goal in a 1-1 women’s soccer tie against visiting conference rival Lake Erie (Ohio) on Thursday in Owensboro.

Pruitt tallied her first goal of the season at the 12:01 mark in the first half off a free kick that gave the Panthers the lead.

Kentucky Wesleyan (2-6-1, 2-5-1 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) returns to action Saturday against visiting Ursuline (Ohio).

Kentucky Wesleyan freshman setter/defensive specialist Lydia Jackson (South Warren Class of 2017) finished with a match-high 32 assists in Thursday’s 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 27-25) volleyball loss at Davis & Elkins (W.Va.).

Jackson also tallied nine digs for the Panthers.

KWC sophomore middle hitter Sierra Morrow (Logan County Class of 2016) tallied six kills, two block assists and an assist in the match.

Kentucky Wesleyan (7-12, 3-5 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) continues its road trip Friday with a match at conference rival Ohio Valley (W.Va.).

Brescia defensive specialist Kailee Moore (Logan County Class of 2017) finished with 13 digs in Thursday’s 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15) road volleyball loss to Union (Ky.).

Moore also had an ace and an assist for Brescia.

Bearcats senior defensive specialist Courtney Reels (South Warren Class of 2014) added five digs.

Brescia (12-10) returns to action Saturday with two matches at Ohio Christian, opening with IU East before taking on the host team in Circleville, Ohio.
