Report: RR Donnelley could face takeover
RR Donnelley, which has had an operation in Glasgow since 1970, could be subject to being acquired by another well-known company, according to published reports.
RR Donnelley announced on its website that it will report second-quarter results and host a conference call Aug. 3. The conference call and live webcast will begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
Xerox Corp., which plans to separate into two companies by the end of the year, is in talks to acquire RR Donnelley. The company’s headquarters in Chicago did not immediately return a telephone message Thursday.
The RR Donnelley facility in Glasgow was followed by a second Kentucky facility in Danville in 1985. Both Kentucky facilities print magazine, catalog and retail inserts.
Bloomberg News noted Xerox could acquire RR Donnelley, founded in 1864 and based in Chicago, and merge some operations with its copier, printer and related-services business and the rest with its smaller business process outsourcing services, according to sources who asked not to be identified because the negotiations are private.
The talks are at an early stage, Bloomberg noted. RR Donnelley last year announced a plan to separate the company into three separately traded companies. The companies spun off would be: LSC Communications Inc., Donnelley Financial Solutions Inc. and R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co.
That plan could take effect in October, according to information on the company website.
