I’ve always enjoyed The Quiet Man. But, for those looking for more authentic fare this March, the Irish have produced a number of good films in recent years. 

The Snapper and Waking Ned Devine are both hilarious comedies and The Commitments also provokes a few laughs.  But the cream of the crop is Rory O’Shea Was Here. 

This gem is about a rebellious young quadriplegic who yearns to live independently.  He befriends an austic man who has been institutionalized all his life, never daring to dream of more.  Together they get their first apartment and start learning how to make their own way in the world.
