Quarterfinals, semis in Region 4 tennis tournament begin Tuesday

Quarterfinals and semifinals will take place Tuesday in the Region 4 Tennis Tournament at Warren Central and Warren East.

Greenwood seventh-grader and No. 1 seed Jacks Lancaster will play Bowling Green’s Renit Patel in the boys’ singles quarterfinals. Lancaster and Patel each swept their second round opponents and will play at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Warren Central.

Greenwood’s Michelle Lancaster, the top-seed in girls’ singles, will play Bowling Green’s Hadley McCormick at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Warren East.

Other girls’ singles matches include Greenwood’s Hope Frederick, Bowling Green’s Sydney Johnson and South Warren’s Alexis Lindsey, who all play at 7 p.m.

In boys’ singles, South Warren’s Luke Winiger will play Jonas Heartl of Greenwood and two-time defending region champion Amrit Avula of Bowling Green will play Allen County-Scottsville’s Wesley Fisher. All boys’ singles will play at 4 p.m. At Warren Central.

Greenwood’s boys doubles teams of Jacob Young/Austin Schneller and Chris Agro/Tanner Gann will play at 4 and 5 p.m., respectively. South Warren’s doubles team of Chessman Robbins/Aaron Cassady will play Bowling Green’s Will Taylor/John Guthrie. Spencer Cassady/Adam Riley also advance for South Warren.

In girls’ doubles, defending champions Natalie Noble/Sydney Cassedy of South Warren will play Greenwood’s Maggie Mullins/Sierra Earnhart at 4:30 p.m. Also advancing in girls’ doubles is Greenwood’s Catherine Gott/Samantha Springs, South Warren’s Deanna Taylor/Madison Pardue and Bowling Green’s Miriam Reber/Jordan Johnson.

Each player/team that advances to the semifinals will automatically qualify for the state tournament.
