Reid’s Livery Winery earns statewide award
Alvaton-based Reid’s Livery Winery was among the Commissioner’s Cup winners announced Nov. 18 in the 2017 Kentucky Commonwealth Commercial Wine Competition.
Reid’s won in the Best Boutique (small production) category. It was the second gold medal in that category for Reid’s. Four wineries earned Commissioner’s Cup awards this year.
The Commissioner’s Cup is the highest award to the top Kentucky wine of the year in each of four categories. To be eligible for the Commissioner’s Cup, a wine must be awarded a gold medal in the competition and must be produced from a minimum 75 percent Kentucky fruit.
Kentucky wines earned 18 gold medals. Wines were judged on individual merit. A total of 162 wines were entered and judged Oct. 14 at the University of Kentucky Horticulture Research Farm in Lexington.
