Logan Arts & Film Festival

If you¹re wondering if the arts are alive in Logan County, make plans to attend the Logan Arts & Film Festival (LAFF), where local artists come out to let people see what they are able to create. The day of art & films on the Carrico Square in Russellville is May 22nd from 1 to 7 p.m. This free festival features music, art, poetry, films, food and more. Local artists and crafters will showcase and sell their creations throughout the day on the square. At the craft booths there will be jewelry, stained glass, candles, knitted crafts, bags, purses, hair bows and artists will also be on hand with sketches, water colors and graphic novels. People can enjoy music throughout the day. Some of the featured bands will be Shady Jake & The Upsetters (blues), Red River Breeze (Celtic), Highway 431(rock) and performances from the Logan County High School Band as well as the Russellville High School Band. There will be acoustic acts and poetry readings between performances. The Democratic Headquarters will be open as the movie theatre for the festival. The LAFF is a family affair and the talented kids from Logan County Gymnastics will be performing throughout the afternoon. If you get hungry while enjoying the music and arts, you can enjoy concessions provided by the local high school bands. The Russellville High Band Boosters will be grilling burgers and pork chop sandwiches and the Logan County High Band Boosters will be selling desert and baked goods to raise money for their trip to perform at Walt Disney World. This art and film festival, now in its fourth year, is a great way for local artists and those who enjoy the arts to come together, it is also to brings people to downtown Russellville. The Logan Arts Council will have an information booth set up and they’ll be on hand to answer questions and also sign people up to become involved with the council while promoting the arts in Logan County.
