Hilltoppers fall at Lipscomb for 3rd straight loss
Lipscomb second baseman Hannah DeVault hit a grand slam Wednesday, powering her squad to a 9-7 win over Western Kentucky in Nashville.
The Hilltoppers (15-5) have dropped three straight after winning their previous 10. They allowed the Lady Bisons (15-7-1) only four hits Wednesday, but those hits included two homers and a triple.
Catcher Kendall Smith drove in three of WKU’s runs, while second baseman Rebekah Engelhardt and center fielder Shannon Plese both crossed the plate twice. Pitcher Kennedy Sullivan (10-2) allowed four runs over 2 2/3 innings and took the loss.
The Toppers open Conference USA play Saturday with a doubleheader at Florida International, starting at 3 p.m.
