Brohm to speak at prayer breakfast
Established in 1993 as an event with Mayor Johnny D. Webb, the 22nd annual Bowling Green Area Prayer Breakfast will be May 11 at the National Corvette Museum Conference Center with Western Kentucky University football coach Jeff Brohm as speaker.
Doors will open at 6:30 a.m. to serve breakfast and music will be provided by “American Idol” Season 13 contestant Brandy Neelly of Louisville. The program will begin at 7 a.m. and is scheduled to last an hour.
“It was started as a community prayer breakfast and it provided an opportunity to come together to give thanks for our blessings and to hear outstanding speakers speak about how God has played a role in their lives,” said Wendell Strode, NCM executive director and chairman of the prayer breakfast.
Brohm recently led the Hilltoppers to their first national ranking, first Football Bowl Subdivision conference title, and first double-digit win total since moving to the FBS seven years ago. Under Brohm, the Hilltoppers have won consecutive bowl games in the 2015 Miami Beach Bowl and 2014 Popeyes Bahamas Bowl. He is the first head coach in program history to win 20 games in his first two years.
The event is usually held around the National Day of Prayer, which is May 5 this year, and it brings businesses and the community together, said state Sen. Mike Wilson, R-Bowling Green.
“It’s just been an event we’ve had in the community to emphasize the fact that God really has all the answers and we need to seek him and he’ll lead us and guide us, Wilson said.
Tickets are $20 for individuals and corporate and table sponsorships are available for $250 for 10 seats with a company listing in the program and assigned table with logo closer to the stage. Tickets must be reserved by May 6 online at www.prayerbreakfast.com, by phone at 270-467-8815 or in person at the Corvette Museum or Christian Family Radio.
The event “makes folks aware that if they don’t know the Lord, it certainly behooves them to give consideration to our creator in getting to know him and getting the Lord in every aspect of their lives,” Strode said.
