Philly Phil, Philthy Animal, Dwayne Wanye, a lot of monikers, one person. This 20 year old is young, fresh, and full of star creativity. In seven years he has gone from a kid making beats on playstation with the program Music Maker to producing on a Roland Fantom for the local scene as well as the major scene. Introducing the heavyweight contender in Bowling Green KY’s corner Mr.Philly Phil, Philthy Animal, Dwayne Wanye.
How ya been? I see you been making major moves with ya production!
I’ve been doing ok, I got discovered on myspace with my production and things just went from there.
You got discovered on myspace! How did you know it was the real thing or just someone talking?
Well I created a buzz with my production, then this manager out of Atlanta noticed and wanted to work with me, I could tell it was legit I checked it out.
So what’s your situation right now with ya production team?
My production partner is in Nashville, we, the CSI, my manager just got signed to Capitol Records, and we just produced for DJ Toomp, so things are coming along.
Let me back track for a second cause a lot of people want to know how you got started?
In 8th grade I had Music Maker on Playstation and I’d make beats then put a karoke mic to the TV speaker and record tapes so everybody could hear. Then when I got to high school I got a Korg M-1 with 8 drum pads. I got pretty good. People started talking about me, that’s when Dice Down Entertainment wanted to work with me and the 1st song we produced together was a local hit.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years with the music biz?
I’m focusing on working with major acts, making a name for CSI and being set.
The route you going I believe you! (I was so impressed I bought a few tracks… Now my son won’t have no lunch money until these beats pay off). Thanks for meeting with me, how can people get ahold of you?
