The Far Off Broadway Players present Table Manners

The Far Off Broadway Players will present Table Manners on June 24 & 25 at 7PM and June 26 at 2PM:

The Far Off Broadway Players, located in Glasgow, Kentucky is a local community theatre group with roots going back to the 1950’s.  Surviving several reorganizations through the past few years, FOBP has evolved into a very active nonprofit community theatre with over 70 members.

As a part of The Norman Conquest trilogy, Table Manners is set in the dining room of the rundown family home of three siblings whose crumbling family foundations are held together by Annie, the sister who has never married and remains at home to take care of a their elderly bedridden mother.

The plot centers around a family reunion of sorts as other siblings and their spouses arrive at the family manse on a July weekend to stay with mother, giving Annie a chance to escape for a long-needed rest.  Fireworks begin when Annie secretly tells sister-in-law Sarah that she has arranged to spend the weekend with her sister Ruth’s husband, Norman.

This bit of secret knowledge sets the tone as this extended family, who simultaneously despise and can’t get enough of each other, sit down together for meals around the dining table during the weekend.  An unlikely candidate for any kind of romantic interlude, Norman just wants to be needed-by anyone.

Six more or less unhappy characters then proceed to unfold the family dynamics around the dinner table.  Although Emily Post would be horrified, audiences will find themselves wanting a second helping of this wildly comic and sometimes poignant family reunion.

All tickets for all shows are reserved seating and all tickets are $10.00 per ticket (for all ages and all groups). Tickets may be purchased by phone at (270) 361-2101, x0 or at the Plaza Theatre Box Office during business hours or online at www.plaza.org 24 hours a day.
