Police: Man admits to being peeping Tom

Bowling Green police were called to College Suites apartments, 2426 Thoroughbred Drive, early Tuesday after a man reported another man was looking through his window.

When police arrived, they found a man fitting the description of the accused peeping Tom running out of the apartment complex, according to Bowling Green Police Department records.

The man told police he was “into voyeurism” and “liked to watch boys,” that he engages in voyeuristic activities on a consistent basis when he is bored and that the acts “aroused” him, according to police records. He said he doesn’t live in College Suites and had no reason to be there.

His name has been redacted from police records pending further investigation.

Shooting — A 17-year-old boy accidentally shot his 16-year-old cousin while playing with his father’s loaded .45-caliber handgun Saturday in Olmstead.

The 17-year-old boy thought the gun was unloaded when he pointed it at his cousin and pulled the trigger, according to a news release from the Logan County Sheriff’s Department. 

A bullet entered the left side of the 16-year-old’s chest and exited under his left armpit, according to the release. No adult was present during the shooting.

Several hours passed before an adult was notified of the 10 a.m. incident that occurred on Olmstead Road. About 2 p.m. the injured teen was brought to Logan Memorial Hospital and treated for injuries not considered at that time to be substantial, according to the release.

The 17-year-old is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and has been released to the custody of his father, according to the release.

Child runs into car  — Timothy Haynes, 38, of Bowling Green, told Bowling Green police he was driving on Blue Lake Way at 6:01 p.m. Tuesday when a boy suddenly appeared and ran into the left side of the car, BGPD spokesman Officer Ronnie Ward said.

The boy, whose name police did not release, was taken to an area hospital with injuries believed at the time of the incident to be “very minor,” Ward said.

No one was cited or charged with anything related to this incident, Ward said.

Water rescue — The Logan County Sheriff’s Department was called Friday afternoon about an overturned kayak in the Red River.

Deputies learned that a man and his 6-year-old daughter were floating on the river when the kayak overturned, dumping both into the river, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.

The man held on to his daughter and a tree until they could be pulled to safety. Rescue personnel were able to get a rope to the man. He wrapped it around himself and his daughter and both were pulled out of the water. No one was injured.

Stabbing — An Indiana man was stabbed Saturday at 211 Rocky Acres Drive in Lake Malone in Logan County.

Barbara Hazelrigg, 47, of Newburgh, Ind., told Logan County dispatch that her husband had been stabbed and was bleeding severely, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department. 

When Deputy Billy Poole arrived, he met the caller and the the victim, David Hazelrigg, 46, at a car wash on Ky. 431 in Lewisburg. David Hazelrigg was unconscious due to blood loss. He had been stabbed in the arm and an artery had been cut, according to the release. Poole bandaged the wound before EMS arrival. David Hazelrigg was taken to Logan Memorial Hospital and transferred to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville due to the severity of his injury, according to the release.

The incident remains under investigation. No other information was released.
