Western Kentucky’s women’s tennis team tallied a 4-0 sweep Wednesday over host Stetson at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center in DeLand, Fla.

WKU earned the doubles point when No. 1 partners Moka Ito and Monica Malinen scored a 6-1 win over Stetson’s Arijana Korac and Danel Ashirova. The Lady Tops’ No. 3 combo of Cindy Oest and Violetta Shatalova notched a 6-2 win over the Hatters’ Danielle Peele and Maxine Bateman.

In singles, Ito beat Korac 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1; Elpida Malamou topped Stetson’s Lucie Renault 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3; and Oest blanked Peele 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

WKU (7-3) will take a week off before playing at Cincinnati and at Middle Tennessee on March 23 and March 25.{&end}
