Local hotel raising Leukemia awareness with a free outdoor concert

Candlewood Suites in Bowling Green will sponsor and host a benefit concert for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) on Thursday, September 2 featuring local band Minimum Wage.  The free outdoor event titled “Wage the Fight” will be from 5 to 8 p.m. and will include a silent auction, corn hole tournament, food, beverage, and children’s activities.

“Kacie Hood, the General Manager of our property has a 27-year-old sister, Lindsay Rushman, who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia,” explains event organizer Dianna Fuda, also the Director of Sales for Candlewood Suites.  “She has gone into remission, but still has a long journey ahead of her.  Without the support and dedication of the LLS, she may not be back at home, so we wanted to somehow give back and raise awareness,” Fuda said.

Participants can expect classic rock tunes from Minimum Wage, food and beverage from Wha Bah Steakhouse, frozen custard from Culver’s and mascots Axle and Roscoe from the Bowling Green Hot Rods.  There also will be an inflatable bounce house and speed pitch game.  On-site registration for the corn hole tournament will cost $10 per person and the total fees will be split between the winner and LLS.

“None of this would be possible without the tremendous support of the Bowling Green community and sponsors such as: Minimum Wage, Wahbah Steakhouse, Culvers, the Bowling Green Hot Rods, Musicians Pro and many more wonderful supporters,” Fuda said.

Other proceeds will come from the extensive silent auction including a $500 Body Works Chiropractic Gift Card, a single game suite rental during the 2011 BG Hot Rods season, $200 in products and grooming services from Pet Stop, $100 Trent Bedding Gift Certificate, massages and services from area salons, WKU merchandise package, and more.
