Lady Toppers pick up 7-0 women’s tennis sweep

Western Kentucky’s women’s tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday in Nashville.

The Lady Toppers claimed the doubles point when No. 1 pair Laura Bernardos and Lisa Friess won 6-0 and No. 2 Zeniece Charles-Hall and Judit Gonzalez Agud won 6-0. WKU’s No. 3 duo of Lucia Diaz Saez and Millie Khoury won by default.

In singles action, Khoury beat UAPB’s Manoja Reddy 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. WKU’s No. 2 singles player Bernardos earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Karissa Fenwick and the Lady Toppers also got 6-0, 6-0 sweeps from Friess at No. 3, Diaz Saez at No. 4 and Gonzalez Agud at No. 5. Charles-Hall won her No. 6 singles match by default.

WKU (2-10) returns to action Saturday with a 5 p.m. match against Wright State in Dayton, Ohio.
