Joiner finishes 1st day at Memphis tied for 10th
Western Kentucky golfer Mary Joiner will be pursuing her third top-10 finish of the season in Tuesday’s final round of the Memphis Women’s Intercollegiate.
The junior Joiner fired a two-round total of 144 (75-69) on Monday to tie her for 10th at the par-71, 6,105-yard Ridgeway Country Club in Germantown, Tenn. She’s seven strokes behind the individual leader, Penn State’s Megan McLean (137).
The 2-under 69 in the second round was Joiner’s fourth round in the 60s this year. She’s tied for second in the entire tournament with 26 total pars.
The Lady Toppers are tied for sixth as a team with a 603 (303-300) tally. Penn State leads the standings at 566.
WKU junior Abigail Smee is tied for 36th at 152 (77-75), while freshman Lizzie Loy (75-78) and sophomore Megan Clarke (76-78) are right behind at 153 and 154, respectively.
Junior Bailey Tyree finished the first day at 158 (80-78).
The final round was slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start.{&end}
