Glasgow artists Paulette Peil and Linda Perkins on exhibit at the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce
Paintings by Glasgow artists Paulette Peil and Linda Perkins are now on exhibit at the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce.
Paulette has enjoyed many hobbies, but was irresistibly drawn to painting in 2009 when a friend persuaded her to paint some abstracts. Immediately she was hooked on painting. After seeing realistic paintings by Jef Dirig while attending an art show at the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce, she enrolled in his art class and art is now her passion. Her work includes abstracts, a portrait, lilies done in acrylics, and a watercolor painting of a Sandhill Crane.
She is a 1969 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a BA degree in elementary education. She eventually completed her MA degree and Rank I. In 1998, she retired after teaching 28 years in the Glasgow Independent School System. Her art work provides great enjoyment. Paulette and her husband, Curt, live on a farm outside of Glasgow.
Linda Perkins says she first became interested in painting around 1990. Her first painting lessons were the art of tole painting, a folk art of decorative painting on tin and wooden utensils, objects and furniture. After tole painting for awhile, she wanted to paint landscapes and began taking lessons. Since then, she has continued to take lessons and has painted landscapes, portraits, birds and flowers. According to Linda, “Painting is very relaxing and I enjoy it very much.” Linda and her husband, Douglas, live in southern Barren County.
Stop by the Chamber at 118 East Public Square between 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday-Friday, to view work by these local artists. A reception will be held for Paulette and Linda on Tuesday, July 20, from 4:00-5:30pm. Refreshments will be provided and the public is invited to attend.
