Cage Buzz continues
Cage the Elephant continues to enjoy spectacular press surrounding the release of their sophmore album, Thank You Happy Birthday with appearances for Latenight with David Letterman, RXP and Jimmy Kimmell Live as well as being featured on MTV and in Rolling Stone.
January 10th began their week as MTV’s PUSH Artist of the Week with interviews spotlighted on the MTV Buzzworthy Blog and an intro stating, “On its new album, Thank You Happy Birthday (out Jan. 11), the band takes a giant, sonic leap forward, refining the sound the group developed on 2009’s fantastic self-titled full-length. Tracks like “Shake Me Down” mix the raw rock feeling of previous Cage The Elephant material with an almost Flaming Lips-like sense of wonder.” The site also featured the premiere of the video for Shake Me Down (video embedded below).
That night Cage was featured by New York’s rock station RXP 101.9 at Webster Hall. The station continues to promote Cage the Elephant as the featured artist on their home page with a link to pictures from the concert and an extensive interview containing footage from their December 2 show at Grimey’s The Basement.
The band next appeared on Letterman on the eve of their CD release performing Shake Me Down (video embedded below). The same day Rolling Stone posted a review of Thank You Happy Birthday which concluded: “They have a secret weapon, too: pop melody. “Shake Me Down” is all dreamy Beatlesque psychedelia, and in “Rubber Ball,” Cage quiet down for a hushed lullaby. Shultz coos, “All I got is nothing but a little bit of love.” He’s got another thing, actually: one of rock’s best young bands.”
January 27 the band will continue their high profile publicity supporting the release when they appear in Los Angeles for the Jimmy Kimmel Cage The Elephant outdoor mini concert.
