Funky Art by Leigh Anne Botts
The public is invited to stop by the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce office to view the art work of Leigh Anne Botts. She describes herself as “a local free spirit and artist” who graduated with a B.S. in interior design from Western Kentucky University. After practicing interior design for a few years, she discovered that was not her heart’s desire and began to paint. Leigh Ann says she enjoys creating pieces that are a fusion of her design background and her love of art. More recently, her style has evolved into a more organic one consisting of bold colors and graphic patterns.
“I’m inspired every day by music, the written word and the greatest artist of all, Mother Nature. I love to create . . . it makes me happy and I love creating art that makes people smile,” says Leigh Anne of her style. “There’s no hidden message or deep-rooted angst or agenda. There’s only my imaginative, color-filled, wacky view of the world. I’m often asked exactly what my style is . . . just call it funky folk art, but you may call it what you wish.”
Leigh Anne’s work is currently on display through the Chamber’s “Celebrating Local Artists” program at the Chamber office daily from 8:30-4:30pm now through November 5. She is an active member of the Arts Guild of the Barrens and has exhibited art at the Fine Arts Bistro in downtown Glasgow. Most of Leigh Anne’s work is done by special order. Contact information is available at the Chamber.
