Bluegrass Hotel Project concert at the Galt House featuring New Grass Revival and the Bluegrass Alliance

Tickets are now on sale for the Bluegrass Hotel Project concert in Louisville  March 20 for $25 and can be purchased at www.ticketweb.com or by calling (866) 468-7630.  Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.  The concert is part of the film and recording project announced at the International Bluegrass Music Association convention last year.

Sam Bush, Vince Gill, Dan Cary, Curtis Burch and other prominent members of the New Grass Revival and The Bluegrass Alliance, two of Bluegrass’ most influential groups, were on hand for the announcement.  The project is centered around an old Victorian mansion in Louisville where the musicians lived and jammed in their early careers.  The house is considered central to the scene during the 1970s.

The project will include a documentary, a live concert and the archiving of video from historical performances.  The film’s release will coincide with the release of a coffee table book, LP record with mp3 download card, a DVD and a CD.

“The Bluegrass Hotel was Louisville, Kentucky’s equivalent of the Buena Vista Social Club in Havana, Cuba (the award winning film by Ry Cooder); the scene of stellar all-night jam sessions, tall tales, world class pickers and vintage instruments galore”, reflected Fred Bartenstein, Bluegrass music historian and consultant to the project.

According to Curtis Burch, the March 20 concert will have a festival atmosphere with a jam stage and booths outside the Ballroom beginning at 5pm, a mainstage concert from 8pm -10pm and more festival jamming outside until 2am.
